CASSIUS

Belgian painter Cassius has been exploring the infinite variations of blue for 18 years. Her works, veritable travel journals, incorporate sand, gravel, and fragments collected during her wanderings, sublimated under plexiglass. She experiments with oxidation, fire, and burning to give the material a vibrant depth. Like many artists seeking simplicity, her goal is to get to the heart of the matter. Monochrome, a demanding and radical exercise, becomes for her a universal language: a plunge inward, where simplicity reveals intensity.
